What is a LAN party?
A LAN party is where people come together to play video games as well as meet fellow gaming enthusiasts. LAN stands Local Area Network which means we create our own gaming network so people at HAM-LAN do not have to worry about slow internet speed which translates into the perfect enviorment to play video games.
What do I need to bring?
For PC gaming:
o Your Computer
o Your Monitor
o Your Keyboard
o Your Mouse
o Your Mouse Pad/Surface
o Power Cords for above equipment
o An outlet strip
o Headphones
o A long (at least 25ft) ethernet cable
o All of your games
o Money for concessions
For console gaming:
o A television
o Your console
o Your AV and power cables for said console
o Your controllers
o Your games you want to play
o An outlet strip
o A long (at least 25ft) ethernet cable
o Money for concessions
For HARDCORE gamers:
o A pillow to use as a seat cushion and/or to use for a quick power nap
o A nice leather office chair o Spare equipment (such as a flashdrive to swap files)
o A camera to take pictures
o Batteries for said camera
o The camera's upload cable (for digital cameras)
o A small "OWNED" sign to wear on your back
IS THERE INTERNET ACCESS AT THE EVENT?
YES. Miami University Hamilton has a T3 connection that is avalible to everyone at the event.
WHAT IS THE CODE OF CONDUCT?
The event is taking place on School Property and will follow School procedures which means NOTHING ILLEGAL: NO Drugs, NO Alcohol, NO Firearms, NO Pornographic material, ETC... If any form of illegal actions are seen, all parties involved will be ESCORTED FROM THE PREMISES WITH NO REFUND!
WHAT IF I AM UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE?
If you are under 18 years of age we do require that when you enter the event you MUST have at least one legal guardian present to sign our waiver. No worries though as EVERYONE must sign a waiver.
IS OUTSIDE FOOD AND DRINK OK?
YES. The venue is less than 5 minuets from Route 4 which is a mecca for fast food reaustraunts.
IS THE VENUE OPEN THE ENTIRE TIME?
!!! YES !!! This is not a lock-in event so attendees are able to come and go as they please, though most stay at the venue for the entire event. If in the middle of the night you'd like to make a Taco Bell run feel free to do so.
IS IT OK TO SLEEP AT THE VENUE?
Yes. Infact some attendees bring a pillow and/or a sleeping bag. The best way to do this is by laying underneith of your reserved seat at your table. As long as your not in the main walk way you'll be fine.
